Jessica’s New House

There is a housing trend going on in our country. That trend is toward home ownership. Owner-occupied housing as a percentage of total housing has never been higher.

Leading the way in this trend are single women. Single women are buying homes at a pace of almost two to one compared to single men. These women are not waiting. Many are buying homes soon after they get started on their careers.

Consider the case of Jessica

She is young and single, only 22 years old. Jessica does not have a long credit history, but the credit history she has is good. Jessica has been prudent with her spending so she is not making hefty credit card payments each month. Like most people just starting out, Jessica has a car payment.

Jessica is not earning megabucks. She has an entry level position in a stable industry. Nor does she have a rich uncle who co-signed for her. Jessica was patient. She knew what she could afford and believed she could find a home in her price range in a neighborhood she liked.

Jessica was smart. She arranged her financing up front so real estate agents she interviewed knew she was serious. She found a REALTOR who took an interest in her quest, provided great service and valuable guidance.

Two weeks ago Jessica made an offer on a house, it was accepted and she is just days away from her first home!

Jessica had a plan and is proof most of us can achieve home ownership. It is not a question of if, just when.
